The Dominican Development Group

The Dominican Diocese is seeking partners to "Adopt a School." 

Churches, Episcopal Church Women, and/or other organizations in the dioceses of Georgia, Nebraska, Albany, South Carolina, Southwest Florida, and Virginia have done so.  More partners are needed.

As a partner, your group can request a particular school and determine the number of scholarships your group or organization can feasibly obtain.  A minimum of 20 scholarships is required to participate in this program ($300 per scholarship).  Your church or organization will receive in advance of obtaining scholarships, pictures of individual students, a short biography and information and photographs of the school.  In this manner sponsors can select the student they want to support and this makes finiding sponsors much easier.

"Adopt a School" participants will need to appoint a coordinator to work with the English-speaking scholarship representative in the Dominican Republic.  Your coordinator will be responsible for promoting the program and obtaining sponsors.

Though not required, sponsoring organizations can provide school materials.  Some "Adopt a School" participants have sent work teams to do repairs at the school and to meet their students.  The Dominican Diocese will make all arrangements should your group or church want to do so.
